Statements about PFDs
Once in the water, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to strap yourself into a life jacket. While a personal flotation device rises high above the water, your clothes are soaked and pulling down. Whether it’s a vest or water wings (arm bars), you can throw yourself onto the top of the PFD, but to actually put it on. That would be tough. PFD and boat safety manuals suggest that you wear a PFD and stay in a water-bound craft.
