A Chromebook can be a small screen to work on, but you can split it in two. It can make up for its small screen as you can set up two separate tabs. The side-by-side view is convenient as you can see both screens simultaneously. It can make multitasking easy, and you can get the job done in half the time. The idea sounds great, but it is not the easiest thing to do. visit here
The split-screen can help students who have to refer to stats on a website in their paper. Instead of toggling between the writing app and the browser, you can do both at once. Similarly, it is great for shopping comparisons as well. You can compare Spectrum bundles from other packages and check which is cheaper.
There are four different ways to split your Chromebook screen. Here are in-depth guides on all of them:
#1: Drag and Drop
The drag and drop technique is fairly simple and as easy as it sounds. You can get both tabs or screens to show side-by-side on your Chromebook by using drag and drop. It is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to refer to two things at the same time. Here is what you have to do:
- Launch the app or tab that you want to use.
- Click and hold on the menu bar of the tab.
- Drag that window to the left or right of your screen.
- Let the window go when you see an outline around the edges.
- Do the same with the other window on the other end of the screen.
In the end, you will see the two windows simultaneously and can work on both of them. This feature is similar to the screen split feature on Windows 10.
#2: Maximize Button
The maximize button can technically do the same thing as the simple drag and drop technique. You can get a simultaneous view of both screens as efficiently as the first method. If you have some trouble with drag and drop, you can try splitting the screen with the maximize button. Here is what you need to do.
- Open the tab that you want to split.
- Look for the maximize button on the top right corner of your screen.
- Click and hold the maximize button until you see two left and right arrows.
- Keep holding down the maximize button and move your cursor towards one of the two arrows.
- Dock the tab on either side of your screen, similar to drag and drop.
- Do the same one more time, going over the other arrow.
It is a simple method, and you won’t have any issues if you follow the steps. You will see the same margins around the end of the window as before. Just let go when the margins are visible and move on to the next tab. The simple technique will take you less than 5 seconds and will save so much time. Once you start working with split screens, you are never going back to just one.
#3: Split Screen Keyboard Shortcuts
If you are like me, you don’t like to use a mouse. Therefore, keyboard shortcuts can be your best friend. Even mainstream shortcuts like ctrl+c and ctrl+v can save a lot of your time. Learning keyboard shortcuts can also come in handy if your external mouse or trackpad has malfunctioned. They are great time savers and efficient tools to remember.
You can split your screen using keyboard shortcuts as well. There is no need to drag and drop or hold down any buttons, for that matter. These keyboard shortcuts are going to make your life easier:
- Alt + [ to move tiles to the right
- Alt + ] to move tiles to the left
These are simple enough to remember and will move already tiled windows as well.
#4: Using Extensions
If these methods are not convincing, you can always install an extension to do this for you. Sometimes technology fazes us with unexpected problems, but there is always a solution. If none of these solutions are working for you, an extension can help. They are simple to install and can split your screen for you. The most common one you can use is called “Dualless”. If you have it installed, you will find the toggle key on the right of your address bar.
To make it more obvious what it is for – the extension looks like already split windows. When you want to split tabs with Dualless, here’s what you need to do:
- Open the tab that you want to split.
- Click on the Dulles extension toggle next to the URL bar.
- Select the size you want the window to be from the drop-down box.
Dulles will automatically set the selected tab to the preferred position and size of your screen. The extension is also available for use for people who don’t have a split or dual monitor.
